Wayson R. Jones has engaged in wide-ranging art activities: music, dance, spoken-word/performance, and painting. He received a degree in music from University of Maryland and later went on to perform with renowned poet Essex Hemphill, appearing in venues in New York, Philadelphia and Washington, DC. His visual art is informed by these performative experiences, the legacy of Abstract Expressionism, and an exuberant approach to materials and process. Wayson’s work has been exhibited thought the DC region and and can be found in private and corporate collections in the Washington DC area and nationally.
